Interoperability: Revit and Showcase

Ideate likes the “best fit” analogy, where features in a product are matched with required tasks, such as modeling or presentation. Using the example of a historic building (E1027), which is shown in the process of being modeled in Revit, the Showcase product is used to simultaneously present onscreen animations. Showcase can create “shots” and sequencing them within storyboard slides. The linked building can be updated, as it is being modeled, with no loss of any content. The presenter can have alternative lineups for material assignments, positions for building elements and visibility display of building elements. Alternatives can be presented “real-time” as combinations of the lineups.

This ability to have the two products working together means you can toggle from modeling the building (Revit) to presenting/reviewing the building (Showcase) with high quality individual on-screen animations or sequences of animations. Animations take minutes or seconds to produce, using simple dialogs.  Output can be presented on-screen or rendered out to a separate file if required.
